Surgery Features

Lateral canthoplasty involves the removal of the rhomboid flap. Tarsal plate flap sling surgery is adopted to open up the tip of the eye. Then, the tip of the eye is lifted and fixated to make the eye appear more elongated and brighter. Lateral canthoplasty normally does not expose more eye whites; however, the upper eyelid may be slightly extended, and the extension can be clearly felt when one is smiling. The eyes will appear warm and smileier.

Surgical Approach

♦Open up the tip of the eye at the outer corner of the eye tip for lifting and fixation, thus highlighting the double eyelid lines and enlarging the eyes for an elongated and more spirited look.

Precautions

1.Apply frequent cold press within 72 hours; switch to warm press after 72 hours.
 
2.二到四日內腫脹感較為明顯，約七到十日可逐漸消腫，疤痕淡化及完全自然約須三到六個月，上述天數仍須視個人體質而定。
 
3.After surgery, first clean the wound using saline solution before applying ointment.
 
4.術後7日內勿食用人參、銀杏等促進血液循環的食品，可多食用高蛋白食品(如魚、肉、蛋、奶等)。
 
5.約7日可拆線。
 
6.術後1~2週內避免做過度出力(如提重物、仰臥起坐等)、勿長時間做低頭的動作。
 
7.Wear sunglasses when out to block sunlight, wind, and dust from irritating the wound.
 
8.Those who wear contact lenses are advised not to wear them until after two weeks; the same also applies to eye makeup.
 
9.Refrain from smoking, drinking, spicy foods, or seafood that easily leads to allergies.

Ｑ：Must this surgery be performed with double eyelid surgery??

Ａ：It is so for most people. However, this surgery may be done after double eyelid surgery. Some people also undergo lateral canthoplasty alone.
