Open Lower Blepharoplasty

Open Lower Blepharoplasty

Surgery Features

♦Make an incision on the tissue along the lower eyelashes. The wound after surgery will produce an eyeliner effect.

1.Excess redundant and sagging skin wrinkles below the canthus are removed to reduce wrinkles.

2.While eye bags are being removed, the eyelid and muscle can be repaired to improve the eyelid sagging.

3.Loose canthal ligament can also undergo aponeurosis cosmetic surgery.

4. It can improve eyelid deformation or scar contraction due to the trauma caused.

Surgical Approach

Remove bulging fat through the incision below the eyelashes and lay fat on the tear trough (nasojugal groove) if needed to improve the tear trough, enhance the loose lower eyelid fat, and prevent fat from protruding again in the future. To improve the tear trough (nasojugal groove) problem, the relaxed lower eyelid fat wall can be reinforced in order to prevent fat bulging in the future.

Precautions

1.The surgical time and recovery period are longer.

2.Scar care is required.

3.Without a muscular lift, eyelid overturning is likely to result.

4.In case of wound pain after the anesthesia wears out, strengthen cold press within three days after surgery to reduce swelling expansion. Apply cold press for 15 minutes several times a day (other than during sleep). Painkillers may also be taken to alleviate the discomfort.

5.Apply warm press staring the fourth day after surgery. Apply it 2-4 times a day and for 30 minutes each time to help the swelling to subside.

6.Refrain from tobacco, spirits, tea, coffee, chilies, herbal medicine (such as Granoderma lucidum), and other blood-activating and irritating foods.

7.The slight swelling and bruising after surgery can be improved after about a week.

8.There is no need to cover the wound with gauze after surgery. Apply anti-inflammatory ointment.

9. Wear sunglasses when out to block sunlight, wind, and dust from irritating the wound.

10. Clean the wound with a sterile cotton swab and saline solution. Apply anti-inflammatory ointment three times a day. Do not allow the wound to be in contact with tap water to avoid infections.

11.There may be slight bruising and swelling around the eyes after surgery. There is no need to panic. Do not bow your head for an extended period of time and reduce water intake and foods that are rich in sodium to facilitate blood backflow and improve swelling.

12.There may be itchiness prior to wound healing. Do not rub the wound using your hands.

13.Return to the clinic for suture removal after about seven days.

14.Continue massaging one week after suture removal. Carry out scar care from near the end of the eye to the medial canthus at fixed points. Do not forcibly rub the scar to prevent lower eyelid overturning.

15.Return to the clinic for follow-up tracking one month after surgery.

Q&A

Q:Will Open Lower Blepharoplasty leave an obvious scar?

A:After Open Lower Blepharoplasty, a thin scar slightly red in color will be left at the lower edge of the eyelashes. Since it is situated along the lower eyelid, the scar will appear somewhat like eyeliner. It will fade and become barely visible after a month or two.

Q:How long will the swelling persist after Open Lower Blepharoplasty? How long does it take for the site to become natural?

A:By frequently applying cold press and hot press after surgery, the swelling will persist for about one week. The site will appear natural after one month.
