Ala Reduction

Ala Reduction

Surgery Features

Excessively wide ala: It refers to the width of the frontal ala exceeds the distance between the two eyes. The solution is to preform skin and tissue removal as well as muscle repositioning.

Excessively round ala : It refers to viewing the ala from the bottom to produce an ideal arc. The solution is to perform skin and tissue removal.

Drooping ala : It refers to viewing from the sides, without seeing the nasal septum. Not being able to see the nasal septum does not necessarily indicate the invisibility of the ala, as it may be the retraction of the nasal septum, thus they should be considered separately. The solution is to perform skin and tissue removal in the nostril.

Ala retraction : It refers to excessive exposure of the nostril viewed from the front. However, nostril overexposure may be the result of nostril retraction, leading to the so-called nose overturn. By extending the nose, the ala of the overturned nose will come down. However, if it only involves ala retraction, corrective skin filling must be done.

Non-open incision surgical procedure

Open surgical procedure

An incision is made only on the two sides of the nose, with the wounds hidden in the nose and invisible from the outside. The surgical procedure without nasal septum removal leaves no postoperative scar, thus the great popularity.

An incision is made from the nasal mucosa to the nose bridge where the external connection is to clearly determine unknown areas before surgery and perform perfect surgery near the cartilage and bone.

Precautions

1.Clean the wound using a Q-tip dipped in saline solution-dry-apply ointment until the day of suture removal.

2.Return to the clinic for suture removal 5-7 days after surgery.

3.Refrain from smoking and eating irritating foods (such as coffee, chilies, spirits) that might prevent wound healing.

4.Refrain from strenuous exercise, sexual activity, and lifting of heavy items within one week after surgery. Maintain a good mood to avoid blood pressure rises that might lead to bleeding, blood stasis, and swelling.

5.Refrain from sleeping on the stomach within one week to avoid pressuring the nose.

6.Refrain from bending, bowing, and holding breath within one week. Do not make grimaces, pop acne, and blow the nose forcibly to avoid wound swelling and bleeding.
